Wema Bank Donates Relief Materials to Support Nigerians During COVID-19 Lockdown

Wema Bank is stepping up to help alleviate the challenges faced by Nigerians during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the hardships caused by the lockdown, the bank is donating relief materials including bags of rice, cartons of vegetable oil, and cartons of noodles to affected states in the country.

This initiative aims to complement the government's efforts in cushioning the impact of the lockdown on vulnerable members of society. As MD/CEO Mr. Ademola Adebise states, "As a bank, we understand that there is no better time than now to support the government in fighting this pandemic." He emphasized Wema Bank's commitment to taking responsibility and supporting affected states, believing it to be a collective fight.

Furthermore, Wema Bank encourages all Nigerians to actively contribute to overcoming the pandemic. In the words of Head, Brand and Marketing Communications Mrs. Funmilayo Falola, "This is a trying time for human kind, but also a test of our resolve to unite in this common fight."

Appreciation for Healthcare Workers:

Mrs. Falola also expressed immense gratitude for the tireless efforts of healthcare workers across the country. She acknowledged their sacrifices in treating patients and disinfecting public spaces while others practice social distancing. These frontline heroes, she declared, deserve our praise and appreciation for their unwavering dedication to duty.

Promoting Stay-Home Measures:

Since the pandemic's outbreak, Wema Bank has consistently advocated for stay-home measures and precautionary guidelines. Through their social media channels, they urge customers, staff, stakeholders, and the public to take necessary precautions.

#sharwithafriend Campaign:

The recent #sharwithafriend challenge exemplifies their efforts to raise awareness. This campaign, partnered with other banks, used the first letter of Wema Bank's name to list key protective measures against the virus, demonstrating unity and collaboration within the banking sector.

Alternative Banking Channels:

Recognizing the importance of staying home, Wema Bank has also optimized its alternative banking channels for seamless transactions during this period. These include:

ALAT banking app: Purchase unlimited airtime and data, pay bills, subscribe to cable TV, and transfer funds.
*945# USSD: Speedy and safe transactions for airtime, data, utility bills, and cable TV subscriptions.
Self-service banking: Check account statements, change transaction PINs, and resolve minor issues 24/7.
